About us

In 2009, the Conseil Départemenal de l’Isère decided to separate the traditional coach services for regular travellers (Lignes Cars Région, for home-work and school trips) from those for occasional travellers (tourist and leisure trips) during the winter season, by creating Transaltitude.

The Transaltitude routes are designed to take tourists (holidaymakers and locals) to the ski resorts in the Isère mountains from the bus stations at Grenoble, Valence TGV and Voiron. A special transport offer is put in place every winter to take you to 14 Isère ski resorts.

Every winter, an average of 100,000 travellers reach their resorts by coach, helping to limit the number of cars on the roads and preserve the natural environment of our mountain ranges.

Transaltitude coach timetables are based on the arrival and departure times of the main trains at Grenoble SNCF station, as well as the shuttle buses from Lyon Saint Exypéry and Geneva Airports.

In 2024, the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Département de l’Isère have entrusted the operation of the Transaltitude lines, commercial development and promotion to VFD under a new Public Service Delegation contract.
